My Profile Picture

Deshan Sumanathilaka

I am a PhD candidate in Computer Science at Swansea University, Wales under the supervision of Dr Nicholas Micallef and Dr Julian Hough. My research focuses on computational techniques for handling ambiguities, with expertise in natural language processing, machine learning, and large language models.

With over four years of academic experience as a Lecturer and Academic Instructor, I specialize in programming principles, object-oriented programming (OOP), data structures, algorithms, and web development. I’ve guided undergraduate and postgraduate students in cutting-edge research projects, fostering innovation and problem-solving skills.

As a researcher, I have presented my work at international conferences and actively contributed to open-source initiatives, with a focus on developing models for low-resource languages. My deep passion for computational linguistics inspires me to address complex challenges in the field and advance the understanding of language through technology.

Beyond academia, I’m a content creator on YouTube, where I share insights on coding, research, and the power of technology in solving real-world problems.
